The crash was reported just before 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes at mile marker 3.6 in Chester, Pennsylvania State Police said in a Wednesday afternoon release.

Police say the incident began when a driver in a dark-colored sedan struck another car and subsequently fled the scene, according to police.

The initial crash resulted in three separate crashes, one of which resulted in the death of a woman whose identity is being withheld by police.

All I-95 southbound lanes were shut down and traffic was detoured off the highway between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., police said.

Police are still searching for the vehicle, which should have functional passenger-side damage, they said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Mario Solis at 484-480-1000.
